Brand and identity

Think of a logo like a puzzle piece—you get a taste of what’s on offer, but you don’t see the big picture. Although a logo is a very important step to a business’ identity (and one that needs to be done well), it’s even more important to understand a logo is just the beginning of what makes a brand.

Branding is a strategic masterpiece combining your colour palette, fonts, branded icons and patterns, key messages, and imagery used consistently and cohesively to connect with your target audience. Collectively, it’s these pieces of the puzzle that spark emotion, and create a purpose-driven experience for your customers. Simply put, branding tells your story. Your why. The big picture.

Branding FAQs

  • Every project is unique, however full brand identity projects may include an initial strategy and market research, brand name and tagline concepts, key messages and copywriting, colour palette and typography systems, a full logo package, secondary assets like patterns, illustrations, and/or iconography, and supporting photography.

These are carefully and cohesively created in support of your why, and reflect the desired personality and purpose of your brand. In other words, they should nail the brief!

  • This depends on the purpose of your brand, and the deliverables set out at the beginning of the project. Regardless of your industry, most brands require both a print (think business cards, signage, and packaging) and digital presence (your website and social media) and it’s these touch-points where your brand will come alive.

Once the project is complete, you’re free to use your brand assets as you please. Your task? To use these consistently and cohesively in order to instil trust from your customers. Don’t worry, I’ll be here if you need a hand.

  • Both are project-specific, and comes down to the scope of your project, deliverables, and what can be achieved within your budget. After all, every client (and project) is unique.

Please fill out this form to get the ball rolling, and I’ll get back to you with any queries before putting an estimate together.

  • Your logo is a very, very important step of the branding process, but without a strategy, market research, moodboards, or exploration, your logo likely won’t cut the mustard (at least, not with your customers). For that reason, I don’t take on logo-only projects. After all, my goal is to build brands that embody your purpose while both looking and functioning as they should. It’s about doing the job once, and doing it (very) well.

And remember, what makes a brand is the elements that are created in support of your logo—it’s these things that build trust, brand recognition, and validation, and collectively communicate your brand’s story.

Creative Communications

Your brand is your story, and telling this story (effectively) is key in building trust with your target audience.

  • This refers to all of those wee brand assets that you use to communicate a key message, promo, or new product/service. This can include eDM graphics, marketing campaigns, creative copywriting, print and digital adverts, and social media artwork.

  • Absolutely. While some brand and identity projects include creative communications, they can be briefed as individual projects as and when required.

Illustration & Iconography

Just like photography, illustrations can be a powerful brand asset as they add depth, detail, and diversity to your brand.

  • Digital illustrations, customised iconography and/or infographics are usually created once your brand basics have been established, such as your logo, colours, and key messages. Illustrations are a great way to enhance the desired brand tone while increasing engagement to those who interact with your brand.

  • Sure do! These are illustrated by hand using black pigment liner and are available via enquiry only at this stage.

Web Design & Development

Form and function combine with tailored, web solutions driven by you, your budget, and your customers.

  • Squarespace is preferred for portfolio-type services, where Wordpress or Shopify may be used where an eCommerce store or more advanced levels of customisation is required. Regardless of which platform is used, you’ll be given access and control over the site, plus a wee tutorial on how to edit content.

  • For Squarespace sites, these are designed and built in-house. For other platforms, I’ll supply the designs (and a bunch of instructions) to my trusty team of web developers as they’re best suited to bring the more advanced, nitty gritty, back-end thingamabobs to life. Don’t worry, you’ll still deal directly with me throughout the build process.
